Thermal Analysis

A thermal analysis of a design may be required for a number of reasons, including:
Optimisation of the heating/cooling arrangement and identification of the thermal requirements
Confirmation that the temperature of components will not exceed allowable values
Identification of temperature distributions, which can be used to determine thermal stresses and distortions
Thermal analyses can be of a steady state or transient form, and can include non-linearities. The techniques used to perform a study will be dependent upon the particular requirements, but may include finite element analysis or computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Eatec has performed thermal analyses for clients in many industries, including power, defence, aerospace, oil and gas, and shipping.

Projects undertaken by Eatec include:
Thermal stressing of a gas turbine test rig
Heat transfer analysis of an electronics unit
Thermal stressing of an optical component
Design of the heating arrangement required for a bitumen carrying ship
