Shock Response

Defence equipment and many industrial structures have to be capable of withstanding shock loadings. The response of a design may be highly dependent upon the surrounding structure or medium, which may modify the dynamic characteristics of the design and the loading applied to it. Isolation mounts are frequently used to reduce the shock loads applied to a design. The behaviour of these can be complex, and in some instances can only be characterised by physical Testing. Eatec has experience of testing of shock mounts and developing mathematical representations of their behaviour in shock and vibration environments. These representations can be added to a finite element model for analysis of the system.

Projects undertaken by Eatec to predict the shock response of designs include:
  Weapon stowage systems
  Underwater acoustic generators
  Offshore platforms
  Sonar system components
